Saltford Court

Saltford Avenue, Manchester, North West, M4 6EL

Saltford Court is a tower block in Ancoats which has sat empty for 18 years. It is a 13 storey building built in the 1960s but has remained abandoned and unused since Manchester Council closed it in the 1990s. Developer Urban Splash purchased the building in 2006 but they have failed to do anything with the building since then. Currently it is covered in metal sheeting at ground level and is blighted by broken windows and hundreds of pigeons. In a recent article in the MEN a local resident said: “The flats are filthy and just a pigeon loft. It’s nothing but an eyesore. We just thought they were going to do them up and put people in them but they have been like that too long. “We have had notices saying to not feed the pigeons because there’s absolutely hundreds and hundreds of them there. “The vast majority of people round here who have to look at it and feel like this. “For me it is too long to do nothing at all. These flats are just in limbo and attracting a lot of vermin.”
